Philosophy

All children can learn.
nAll children are gifts from God.
nStudents need to be self-regulated thinkers, creative thinkers, and critical thinkers
nLearning is lifelong
nParents are the most important people in a child’s life.
I sincerely care about your child and am committed to seeing   them succeed.
nA safe environment is essential for learning
n
What I need from parents:
nI need you to back my academic efforts.
nSend a clear message to your child -“I expect you to do your very best and work to your full potential.”
nLet your child know that their education is important to you.
nCommunicate to your child that you expect them to behave and to follow rules.

Absences
In case of absences, students are expected to make up the work they missed.  Missed work will be available at the end of the day to be picked up and posted on Jupiter gradebook when assigned.  Work is expected in a timely manner: students have two days for each day absent to tun in assignments.  Work is not available in advance.  Arriving after 10 a.m. or leaving before 1p.m. is considered a 1/2 day absence.

Attendance
All students are expected to be in attendance each school day.  The day begins promptly at 8:30 with morning announcements and students are dismissed at 3:-30 Monday-Thursday, and at 2:00 on Fridays.  School gates will be opened at 8:15 and students may enter the classroom to get ready for the day.  At the end of the day, students will be dismissed at the gate.  If the student is is going to enrichment care or after school sports program they will be dismissed to where the enrichment care work or coach is located.

Chapel
Chapel is held weekly on Fridays (with the exception of the first and last week of school).  Once a month, we will have chapel at 9:00 with the whole school.  Other Fridays, Chapel is at 8:30 for chapel.  Dates and times are found on the calendar.  We sit with our family groups and parents are welcome to join us.  We collect offerings for different program to help others.  Look for more information in the newsletter.

Family Groups
All studentes are members of a family group at Atonement.  Family groups are mixed aged and provide and opportunity for mentoring and relationship building between all students at school.  Family groups sit together at Chapel and special events and are a team at our end of the year field day.  Groups meet at the end of the day on Tuesdays with their teacher leader to share prayer, short lessons, and fellowship.  Our school meets as a whole group on Fridays before dismissal for a school closing.

Jobs
Whiteboards, Classroom tables, Lunch tables, Computers, Graded papers, Missing assignments, Blog, morning announcements, recycling, other opportunities for service

Newsletter
We will post to the blog on a weekly basis.  Our school's newsletter is e-mailed and posted on our website at the end of the month. Please take time and read this information each week.

School Shirts
It is required that students wear purple school shirts on all field trips.  It can be a polo or t-shirt as long as it is purple.  School shirts (any color) are to be worn on Friday for chapel.

Student Planner
Students will maintain a students planer where they will keep track of their daily work and long range assignments.  Assignments are written on the board and posted on Jupiter and students are to write them in the corresponding space in the book on the day it is due.  The planners is to be filled out each day.  I do not check to see if the planner is completed unless there is a problem turning in work.  Planners are a good source of information.  This allows you as a parent to see what your child is doing in a class and how much work is getting completed in school.

Tardiness
Late arrivals disrupt the flow of the classroom day.  We begin promptly at 8:30, so please make every effort to arrive on time.  If a student arrives after 8:30, they must go through the office.

Yearbook
We are crating our school yearbook with Tree Ring Yearbooks.  This company is web based and allows you to create custom pages for your own student and will be added to your personal yearbook copy.  We create a yearbook committee in the room for students interested in helping create classroom pages, events pages, and sports pages.
